Learning and development professionals from across the country came together to discuss the current issues facing them in supporting their clients to manage uncertainties and challenges in todays world of work.
Attendees from public and private sector organisations travelled to the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool to attend the Windmills 2011 conference, hosted by personal and career development company Windmills.
Delegates flocked to the city from a wide range of companies and organisations such as the Police, 02 and William Hill.
Issues raised included dealing with change management, outplacement support, empowering employees and how overcoming obstacles, while guest speakers included John Lees, author of ‘How to Get a Job You’ll Love’.
Helen Wakefield, Co-Director of Windmills said: “Windmills is all about working with organisations to help their employees realise their full potential – both in the workplace and beyond.
“One of the most popular ways in which we can help organisations to effect change is through our Champions Programme, which allows businesses to develop their own in-house trainer, and it was great to see some of our Champions on the day.
“There are clearly some very big challenges facing the HR industry today, and our delegates enjoyed the chance to air some of their concerns whilst learning best practice methods from others.”
Ruth Lawton from Birmingham City University said: “The Windmills 2011 conference really helped me to look at how we as an industry operate in a fresh, new way. The current economic climate means we’re in an ever-changing environment, and by choosing to adapt in a positive way we can embrace the changes and make them work for us instead of against us.”
Over the past decade, Windmills has supported over 30,000 individuals and employees both nationally and internationally, providing them with a clearly structured framework to enable them to take control of their career and life – irrespective of their age, background, profession or career.
