Windmills Champions gather for Champions’ event
We have a wide range of Windmills Champions from all over the UK, so we thought it would be a great idea to invite them to an event where they could share their Windmills experiences.
A Windmills Champion is an individual who has been trained to use the Windmills programmes and resources within their organisation by purchasing a licence. Every licence is unique as they are individually tailored to fit the needs of the organisation. The event displayed the flexibility and breadth of the Windmills portfolio.
The theme for the event was ‘food for thought’, based on a recently developed windmills exercise. The ’starter‘ part of the session allowed Champions to share their personal ingredients for success and those which may have been less tasty. The ’main course‘ gave Champions a chance to understand what fresh ideas and new dishes could provide the ideal accompaniment to support the menu of options they offer their clients. Finally, no good menu is complete without a ‘dessert’ which provided some time for the Champions to reflect on what is currently dished up on their work/life balance and consider what they would like to have on their plate!
We felt it was essential to give the Champions’ time to reflect on their own personal development and have the opportunity to use the resources personally. The feedback highlighted the importance of this and 80% of the Champions stated that the event had a significant impact on their own personal development.

Natalie Johnston, Learning & Development Manager at Windmills, delivered the event and said: “It was a real magic moment for me personally to have so many diverse Champions from all over the UK sitting in a room together, sharing their experiences, who would not have met if it hadn’t been for Windmills”.
The feedback from the Champions was excellent too, one Champion described the event as “A day for sharing best practices and very thought provoking. I came away with lots new ideas for delivery and had a fun packed day”.
We had a four-legged friend in attendance too - Sam, the hearing dog of one of the Champions, was extremely well behaved right until the end of the day when he gave into temptation with the jelly babies.
Following the success of our first event, we are keen to hold another. We will contact all our Champions within the next six months with information on this. We hope to see you all again and look forward to seeing some new faces too.
Windmills would like to thank all the Champions who attended the event. It was great to see you all, in particular Sue Berry and Kay Johnston, who were filmed for a case study during the event - we really appreciate it!
