the windmills programme trainer's resource

After producing The Art of Building Windmills the team recognised that most people wanted and needed some form of facilitation to take them through the process. This led to the creation of our comprehensive Trainer's Resource to help people develop the skills they need to manage their career progression and learning opportunities throughout their life.

Developed with financial backing from NWDA, the resource is aimed at individuals who support others with their career development, e.g. trainers, line managers, HR professionals, careers advisors, tutors, and career and life coaches.

The process is based on our five-stage career management cycle: Where am I now? Where do I want to be? How do I get there? What support do I need to get there? How can I keep reviewing and improving?

Facilitation aids include trainer's notes, scripts and master copies of all the exercises and activities required to deliver group or individual sessions. The latter consists of diagnostic tools, card-sorts, questionnaires and progress files.

This programme is about longer-term career aspirations and covers elements such as motivation and broadening and stretching individuals to ensure they reach their full potential.

The pack is self-contained and can be used in a highly flexible way – the programme can be delivered over a number of days, weeks or months according to client needs. The Trainer's Resource has been used with great success particularly within universities as part of their careers service provision.
