Big Conversations from Small Talk at Key Times
January 4th, 2017 by Suzanne Sweeney
You may have found yourself reflecting at key times in your life about where life is taking you, what you are up to and what you have achieved.
These big questions can happen when perhaps facing a decade birthday, 30th, 40th, 50th. They may also be at key transition points too. I remember my son reflecting that “quote” – “the best days of his life were over” as he entered his last year at University “everyone tells you these are the best years of your life and mine is nearly over” Umm, perspective needed perhaps?
Others can feel perspective is achieved when perhaps there has been a life changing experience. A period of ill-health, a bereavement, a divorce, or a new birth, can all provide an opportunity for us to stop for a while and reflect.
Remember the hamster on the wheel? For some the wheel is getting faster and so the opportunity to step off and take a look at the landscape surrounding us can be hard. For others health may cause us to fall off the wheel.
Whatever the case for you, at Windmills we recognize that it is possible to fall into a default position and “sleepwalk” through our lives. When we look back we are unable to answer the question of how we got to where we are, doing what we do, it just seemed to happen.
How about giving yourself the opportunity at the event in March to step off that wheel and take a fresh look? A new perspective?
