Windmills Plays Matchmaker for O2 and City School
August 19th, 2013 by Helen Wakefield
Windmills has helped to inspire a partnership between communications giant O2 and city school Princes Primary when senior managers from the two organisations met as part of the 3-Thinking programme.
The link began last year when O2 leader Ian Hayhoe visited the school whilst a delegate on the Windmills run 3-Thinking programme, which is delivered by Dr Pete Hawkins and Ken Pye
The programme impresses on its attendees the importance of fulfilling their own potential as an individual, within their organisations and within the wider community. This work enables delegates to link their skills and talents to causes and purposes to which they feel passionate about.
A project team of O2 volunteers gave their time to create first a music room, followed by a state-of-the-art sensory room as part of the communication company’s O2 Think Big programme. The scheme encourages young people to improve their communities by backing their ideas with money, training and support.
Carmel Convery, Chair of Think Big at O2’s Preston Brook customer service centre said: “We were delighted to be given the opportunity to develop a relationship with Princes Primary School through the great support and network of Windmills.
“In line with O2 Think Big, we called on the help of students in the art department at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn. Together with the Think Big project team and O2 volunteers, they have created an amazing space for the children.
Princes Primary School Head teacher Kathy Brent said: “We’re so grateful, both to the 3-Thinking programme for arranging the visit to the school that sparked the relationship in the first place, and to O2 for so generously lending us their staff in working hours.
“The finished room looks absolutely stunning, but more importantly, it provides quality stimulation for our children, helping them to learn and progress – and we couldn’t be more delighted.”
Windmills is committed to building long lasting relationships and is currently supporting Princes Primary School with its Fun Day’s and facilitating a team of senior managers within 02 to connect employee engagement, volunteering and business impact
